The Gütermann metallic machine embroidery thread set (art. no. 734485) contains 4 spools of 200 m each of metallic-effect thread for sparkling decorative stitches, decorative seams and embroidery designs. Together you have 800 m of thread in the four metallic colours 7007, 7011, 7001 and 7009. This lets you combine embroidery and decorative stitches in several shades of shine without having to buy single spools separately.

The thread is made of 60% polyamide and 40% polyester. According to Gütermann, it is suitable for all fabrics and weaves. The manufacturer also mentions uses such as cords for knitting and crochet or creative craft ideas.

Using the metallic thread

Use the metallic thread as the top thread. For the bobbin thread, Gütermann recommends a universal thread (sew-all thread). A metallic machine embroidery needle NM 80–90 is specified for this thread, so do not use a standard needle. Before starting your actual project, sew a test piece on a scrap of fabric to see how thread, stitch type and fabric work together. The four colours work best as targeted accents, for example for outlines, decorative stitches or individual parts of a design.
