YKK 60 cm Zip – Closed-End, for Long Seams
The YKK CFC-36 zip in 60 cm is a closed-end coil zip for long seams, such as on skirts, dresses, trousers, bags and home textiles. The fine polyester coil is flexible and sits snugly against the fabric. The standard slider runs smoothly.
Closed-end means the two halves are joined firmly at the bottom. This suits fastenings that you only pull up and down, such as side seams, centre backs of dresses or cushion covers. For jackets that need to open fully, you will need an open-ended zip instead. Choose your colour from the options.
Inserting the zip
Place the zip right side down onto the right side of the fabric and secure it along its whole length with pins or tacking thread. At 60 cm, the fabric can easily slip otherwise, and the seam will ripple. Sew close to the coil using a zip foot. If the slider gets in the way, leave the needle in the fabric, lift the foot, move the slider past the foot and then carry on sewing.
