The Gütermann metallic thread set contains 7 reels of 50 m in gold (24), silver (41), copper (36), fuchsia (247), pink (624), violet (571) and green (235). You can use it for decorative stitches, ornamental seams and appliqué with a glittering finish, on the sewing machine or by hand.

The thread is made of 70% polyamide and 30% polyester. You can use it as both needle thread and bobbin thread. With 7 colours of 50 m each, you can try out different metallic shades without buying large quantities of a single one. In total, the set contains 350 m of thread.

What to use the metallic thread for

The thread is suitable for decorative stitches and ornamental seams, for appliqué and embellishments, and for craft projects with a bit of shine, such as cards, fabric decorations or your own DIY designs. The colours have a metallic finish: gold, silver and copper look classic, while fuchsia, pink, violet and green add coloured accents.

Sewing with metallic thread

Use a universal needle size 100–110 (Nm), which is the right needle for this thread. Sew rather slowly and check the thread tension on a scrap of fabric before you start your project. Shiny metallic threads are often more sensitive to high tension and high speed than ordinary sewing thread.
