Gütermann Repellent sew-all thread – water-repellent thread in a set of 10

Gütermann Water Repellent sew-all thread is a water-repellent all-purpose sewing thread for joining and topstitching seams on rain jackets, trench coats and outdoor accessories. This set contains 10 reels of 100 m, 1,000 m in total. That lets you sew several projects with the same thread.

The thread is made of 100 % polyester using Micro Core Technology®. It is even and fine. You can use it as both needle thread and bobbin thread, on a sewing machine or by hand. According to Gütermann, no special machine settings are needed, so you do not have to change the thread tension.

Sewing with the thread

Thread it in both the needle and the bobbin so that the seam is water-repellent all the way through. Choose a needle to suit your fabric. The thread is also suitable for fine Microtex needles up to NM 70. Sew a test seam on a fabric scrap first. Bear in mind that the needle holes remain in the fabric. For items that need to be truly watertight, you will also need seam tape or another way of sealing the seams.

Gütermann lists rain jackets, trench coats, outdoor clothing, rain hats, bags, cosmetic bags and dog coats as uses. With 10 reels of 100 m, this set suits you if you sew a lot or make several items in a row. For a single small project, there are 4-reel sets with 4 reels of 100 m each in three colour assortments (Col. 1 to 3).
