Revell Masking Tape 10 mm – masking tape for clean paint edges in model making
Revell Masking Tape (art. no. 39695) is a masking tape for covering model parts before you paint them. It stops paint from running under the edge and bleeding. The tape conforms well, sticks firmly and can be peeled off again without leaving marks.
At 10 mm wide and 10 m long per roll, it suits colour separations, stripes and masking smaller areas, such as cockpit frames, wheel bays or decorative lines. You need clean edges, especially when spraying with an airbrush.
How to mask cleanly
The surface should be clean, dry and free of grease. Stick the tape along the edge you want and press it down firmly with your fingernail or a cocktail stick, especially along the paint edge. For curved lines, lay the tape in short pieces and follow the curve. Apply the paint in thin coats, as too much paint can creep under the tape at the edge. Afterwards, peel the tape off slowly at a shallow angle.
Which width to choose
Revell Masking Tape is available in 6, 10 and 20 mm. The 10 mm roll sits in the middle: it is enough for colour separations and stripes, yet still easy to control. Use the narrower tape for very fine lines and tight curves, and the wider one for larger flat areas.
