Clover Tapestry Needles 238 – 6 Needles in Three Sizes with Gold Eye

Clover tapestry needles (art. no. 238) are blunt-tipped embroidery needles for wool, thick cotton and ribbons on canvas and coarse-weave fabric. The set contains six steel needles: 2 each in No. 18, No. 20 and No. 22. That way you always have the right needle to hand for yarns of different thicknesses.

The elliptical eye is gold-plated. According to Clover, this makes threading easier and is kinder to the thread. The needles are nickel-plated, and the steel is hardened by heat treatment.

Choosing the needle size

The higher the number, the finer the needle: No. 18 is the thickest in the set, No. 22 the finest. Choose a needle that glides through the holes of your canvas or fabric together with the thread, without stretching the fabric threads. Thick wool works best with No. 18, while finer yarn and closer weaves are easier to stitch with No. 20 or 22.

Why a blunt tip?

The blunt tip slides between the threads of the fabric instead of piercing them. According to Clover, no fibres get caught or split when working with ribbons.
