Proxxon HSS Twist Drill Bit Set 28876 – 6 Bits from 1.5 to 4.0 mm with Centre Point

The Proxxon HSS twist drill bit set (art. no. 28876) contains six twist drill bits made of HSS (High Speed Steel) with a centre point. You can use them to drill wood and plastic accurately, as well as non-ferrous metal and steel and stainless steel sheet. The centre point helps stop the bit wandering when you start drilling. According to Proxxon, the titanium coating reduces friction and increases tool life.

The set contains one bit each in diameters of 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 mm. All bits have a shank with a diameter of 3.0 mm, so you only need a chuck or collet for this shank size. A storage box keeps the set together and the bits protected.

Drilling cleanly and accurately

Clamp the workpiece firmly, place the bit with its centre point exactly on the mark and start with light pressure. In metal, work at a low speed with a steady feed; a little cutting oil makes drilling in steel and stainless steel easier. In plastic, a low speed also helps to stop the material melting. Withdraw the bit from the hole from time to time so that the swarf is cleared. Wear safety goggles when drilling.

Which bit for which job?

The small diameters from 1.5 to 2.5 mm suit fine holes, for example for pins, small screws or pilot holes. With 3.0 to 4.0 mm you can drill larger through holes. As the set has six sizes in 0.5 mm steps, you will find the right size for most holes in model making and small-scale work.
