Prym Standard-Elastic 12 mm black – flat elastic for threading

Prym Standard-Elastic in black is a flat elastic, 12 mm wide, for threading through trouser, skirt and pyjama waistbands, hems and jackets. In this zigzag-patterned band the rubber threads lie evenly side by side, so the tension is distributed evenly. The elastic is supple and strong at the same time.

You can boil it and wash it at up to 95 °C, and tumble drying is also permitted. This is useful for clothing that is washed often. The elastic is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

Threading the elastic

The casing in the waistband should be slightly wider than the elastic so that it does not twist. Push a safety pin through the end of the elastic and thread it through the casing. First pin the other end to the fabric so that it does not disappear into the casing. Then sew the two ends together with an overlap and close the opening in the casing.

Which width to choose

At 12 mm, the elastic suits waistbands that need a little more hold. The Standard-Elastic series is also available in 5 mm width and in white.
