Prym Elastic-Band extra soft 15 mm – soft elastic for clothes worn next to the skin

Prym Elastic-Band extra soft (art. no. 957080) is a woven elastic band in white, 15 mm wide. You thread it through a casing as a waistband elastic in pyjamas, underwear, trousers or skirts. The extra soft surface also feels comfortable on clothing worn directly against the skin.

The band keeps its shape when stretched, does not roll up and, according to the manufacturer, does not dig in. It is washable up to 60 °C and tumble dryer safe, so you can care for your finished items as usual.

Threading the elastic

Sew a casing that is slightly wider than 15 mm so that the elastic slides through easily. Attach a safety pin to the end of the band and push it through the casing. Hold on to the other end so that it does not disappear into the casing. Measure the length on the body with slight stretch, add a little for the join and sew the ends together securely. Then close the opening in the casing.

Which width to choose

Prym offers this elastic in 10, 15 and 20 mm. The 15 mm width sits in the middle: it suits a casing that is wider than for very narrow waistbands, but not as wide as for a 20 mm band. Follow the casing width given in your pattern.
