Prym Standard-Elastic 5 mm black – flat elastic for threading through casings

Prym Standard-Elastic in black is a flat elastic, 5 mm wide and 3 m long. You thread it through trouser, skirt and pyjama waistbands, hems or jackets. The rubber threads lie evenly side by side, and the elastic is strong yet supple.

According to Prym, the elastic is boilproof, washable up to 95 °C and tumble dryer safe. That is practical for clothing that is washed often. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

Threading the elastic

The narrow 5 mm elastic fits into slim casings, for example on pyjama trousers, skirts or jacket hems. Push a safety pin through the end of the elastic and feed it through the casing. Hold the other end firmly so that it does not disappear into the casing.

• Measure the length on your body: the elastic should sit snugly with a slight stretch, without digging in.
• Add a little length for the overlap of the ends.
• Sew the ends together one over the other, then close the casing.

Choosing width and colour

For wider casings, Standard-Elastic is also available in the series in a 12 mm width. The colours black and white are available in the series. This elastic is black and 3 m long.
