Prym Blunt Tapestry Needles No. 24–26 – for Coarse Embroidery with Wool
The Prym blunt tapestry needles No. 24–26 (art. no. 125561) are intended for coarse embroidery and for embroidering with wool. The card holds 6 hardened steel needles, assorted in sizes No. 24–26. According to Prym, the rounded tip does not pierce the fibres but pushes them aside. The eye is symmetrically punched and completely burr-free. It is correspondingly large for coarser yarns and wool, so thicker threads are easy to thread.
Which needle for which yarn?
The card contains needles in sizes No. 24 to 26. No. 26 is the slimmer and shorter needle at Ø 0.6 mm and 34 mm long; No. 24 is slightly thicker and longer at Ø 0.8 mm and 37 mm. Choose the needle so that the yarn pulls easily through the eye and the needle still passes smoothly through the fabric.
Working with blunt needles
A needle without a sharp point does not pierce the thread but glides between the fibres. This is gentler on the fabric and the yarn, especially with wool. Guide the needle straight and without pressure through the existing gaps in the fabric. According to Prym, the needles are also suitable for sewing in wool ends.
