Lang Yarns ILLUSION – gradient yarn in cotton and viscose

ILLUSION from Lang Yarns is a knitting and crochet yarn made from 55% cotton and 45% viscose (bamboo), which works up into colour gradients all by itself. According to Lang, each individual strand is printed with the same colour gradient before being twisted. The result is a marl construction with an even colour distribution. So you knit a lively play of colour with no extra effort.

One ball weighs 100 g and has a length of approx. 270 m. Lang classes the yarn as LIGHT (DK). Choose your colour from the options.

What to use ILLUSION for

The cotton and viscose blend suits light items such as summer jumpers, airy scarves, hats and other accessories. Both fibres are less elastic than wool. Work evenly and not too loosely, so that the stitch pattern stays smooth. The colour gradients show to best effect in plain areas, for example in stocking stitch or simple crochet patterns. Very fine textured stitch patterns, on the other hand, take a back seat to the play of colour.

Quantity and tension

For a jumper in size 38–40, Lang gives a yarn requirement of approx. 500 g, which is about five balls of 100 g. The actual amount depends on the design, length and sleeve shape, however. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. Lang states 22 stitches and 31 rows over 10 × 10 cm with 3.5–4 mm needles.
