Prym elastic sewing thread in light grey (art. no. 970011) is an elastic yarn that you can use for knitting, crochet or sewing. At Ø 0.5 mm and 20 m long, it is wound on a sewing machine bobbin. Held together with your yarn as a carry-along, it makes hats, cuffs and wrist warmers stretchier; on the sewing machine you can use it to create gathers or to stabilise selected areas of the fabric.

The thread is made of 50% elastane and 50% polyamide. The high elastane content gives it its strong stretch. A groove on the base and lid of the bobbin holds the end of the thread in place while your work is resting.

Using the elastic sewing thread

For knitting or crochet, work the thread in parallel with your yarn. This gives cuffs and hat edges more recovery and they lose their shape less. For gathering, insert the bobbin in the sewing machine: as you sew, the rows draw together and the fabric gathers. For stabilising, sew the thread in only where the fabric should give less.

Choosing a colour

Prym offers the thread in several colours, such as black, sand and white. Light grey suits light and grey yarns, where the thread carried along should not stand out at the edges.
