Rico Creative Filz Print – felting wool for knitting and felting

Rico Creative Filz Print is a felting wool made from 100 % virgin wool, which you can use to knit felted accessories such as slippers, baskets and table mats. You knit the yarn as normal first, then felt the knitted piece in the washing machine. Choose your colour from the options.

One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of 50 m. For larger items such as baskets or slippers you will therefore need several balls. Work out the quantity from your pattern and buy it all at once. The recommended needle size of 8 mm gives a loose fabric that felts well.

Felting tips

The knitted piece shrinks noticeably when felted: according to the manufacturer, the tension changes from 11 stitches and 17 rows (unfelted) to 15 stitches and 22 rows (felted), each over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. So knit a small swatch first, felt it and then measure it. That way you can see beforehand how much the yarn shrinks and adjust the size of your piece accordingly.

• Knit loosely with 8 mm needles so that the yarn felts evenly
• Make the piece larger than the finished size before felting, as it will shrink
• Felt the finished knitted piece in the washing machine, as described in your pattern
