Aurora Steinbach BL17 – sturdy 250 gsm drawing pad

The Aurora Steinbach BL17 drawing pad contains 20 sheets of 250 gsm drawing paper for drawing, sketching and painting. The paper is glued on one side, so the sheets can be removed from the pad cleanly. Choose your size from the options.

At 250 gsm, the paper is considerably sturdier than thin sketching paper. It suits school work, use as a sketchbook alternative and studies.

Which techniques suit it?

The thick paper copes well with dry media and moderately wet paint. With pencil, charcoal and pastel chalk less indentation shows through on the back, and it also takes several layers. For very wet techniques such as watercolour, you are better off using a paper made for the purpose.

Choosing and tip

The Steinbach range also includes a pad with 200 gsm. The BL17 at 250 gsm is the sturdier choice if you apply a lot of paint or work heavily with charcoal and pastel. Let wet work dry completely on the pad before you remove the sheet.
