Faber-Castell Polychromos Coloured Pencils, Tin of 24

Faber-Castell Polychromos 24 – artists' coloured pencils in a metal tin

The Faber-Castell Polychromos set of 24 contains 24 artists' coloured pencils in a metal tin for drawing, illustrating and free artistic work. Faber-Castell lists graphic applications, free artistic work and precise colouring of plans as uses. According to the manufacturer, the pigments have high lightfastness, so your work keeps its colour for a long time in daylight. The pencils lay down colour softly and richly, and the colour is smudge-proof and water-resistant.

The lead is 3.8 mm thick. Thanks to SV bonding (Secural bonding), it sits firmly in the wood and, according to the manufacturer, is very break-resistant. That is useful if a pencil is dropped or you sharpen it often. The pencils are kept protected and sorted in the metal tin, so you can also carry the set around easily.

Which set suits you?

Polychromos is also available in a metal tin with 12, 36, 60 and 120 pencils. With 24 pencils you have a selection that covers many subjects without needing the large assortment straight away. If you need more shades later, choose a larger set from the range.

Working with the pencils

As the lead lays down colour softly, build up areas of colour in thin layers. Start with light pressure and apply darker shades last. This keeps the paper receptive and lets you blend shades over one another. Sharpen the pencils with a sharp sharpener so the lead does not break. As the colour is smudge-proof and water-resistant, it does not smear easily later on. You do not need to fix the drawing for this.
