Royal Talens Gouache Extra Fine Quality, 20 ml Tube, Single Colours

Talens Gouache Extra Fine Quality – opaque poster paint with a matt finish

Royal Talens (Talens) Gouache Extra Fine Quality is an opaque poster paint in a 20 ml tube for artists, designers, illustrators and school lessons. It is highly pigmented, covers the surface completely and dries to an even, matt finish. The range comes in 60 colours. Choose your colour from the options.

The binder is dextrin. This gives the paint a smooth consistency and a low surface sheen. It is a good base for flat areas without visible brushstrokes, such as illustrations, designs or posters. The paint dries within a few minutes, so you can carry on working quickly.

Working with gouache

Squeeze the paint onto a palette and mix it with the brush. Undiluted, it gives strong, matt coverage. With a little water it becomes more transparent and can be applied as a glaze. Apply the paint in several thin layers rather than one thick one, and it will dry evenly.

Good to know

The paint is not waterproof and can be reworked with water even when dry. This helps when making corrections. It also means that when you paint over dry areas with a wet brush, the layer underneath may dissolve. Use little water and a light stroke there. Royal Talens offers a colour chart of the range as a download, so you can compare shades before choosing.
