The Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment fineliner is a black ink pen for drawing, sketching and illustrating on smooth paper. The pigmented ink is lightfast, permanent and waterproof, as well as acid-free and archival. Your lines will therefore last for years and will not run when you go over them later with watercolours.

You can guide the long, metal-cased fibre tip precisely along stencils and rulers. The ergonomic grip zone reduces strain during longer drawing sessions, and the metal clip holds the pen on a pocket or in a sketchbook. The fineliner comes in 9 line widths from 0.05 to 0.8 mm, each in black. Choose your line width from the options.

Which line width to choose

Use the fine widths 0.05 to 0.2 mm for details, hatching, outlines of small motifs and technical drawings. With 0.3 to 0.5 mm you can draw clean outlines and add lettering. The broader widths 0.6 to 0.8 mm suit bold lines, emphasis and lettering. Many artists combine two or three widths in one picture so that foreground and background are clearly distinguished.

Working with the Pigment Liner

Choose a smooth paper, as the fine fibre tip wears down faster on rough surfaces. When using rulers and stencils, guide the pen without sideways pressure. Let the lines dry briefly before colouring with watercolour or ink. Replace the cap straight after drawing so that the tip does not dry out.
