Botz 9492 Kreidegrau liquid glaze – matt light grey glaze for earthenware

Botz liquid glaze 9492 Kreidegrau is a matt glaze for earthenware in a cool, light grey. It gives an even surface that feels pleasant to the touch and suits plain-coloured, understated vessels, bowls and decorative pieces.

The glaze is stable in the firing range of 1020 to 1060 °C. You can also fire it up to 1100 °C, so you can adapt it to your usual earthenware firing. Kreidegrau is one of the matt liquid glazes from Botz and can be mixed with other opaque matt glazes: 9107, 9108, 9489 to 9494 and 9612. If you are looking for a grey shade of your own, it is best to try out mixtures on a small scale first.

Applying the glaze

Stir the glaze thoroughly. If needed, thin it with a little water. Apply it with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics that were fired at 950 °C or above. Let each coat dry well and repeat the application if the surface is not yet evenly covered.

Mixing and firing

You can change the grey shade with suitable matt glazes from the series, such as 9494 Mint matt or 9493 Puderrosa matt. A test piece on your own clay shows you beforehand how the mixture and firing temperature work.
