Botz Liquid Glaze 9595 Waldwiese – glossy green with colourful speckles

Botz liquid glaze 9595 Waldwiese is a glossy glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It gives a strong green with light blue, dark blue, yellow and red speckles. The speckles give the surface a lively texture without you having to combine several glazes.

According to the manufacturer, the glaze also gives good results on coloured clays. It is one of the Botz glazes for earthenware and is stable in the firing range of 1020 to 1060 °C. It can be fired up to 1100 °C.

Application

Stir the glaze thoroughly before applying, as the colour pigments and speckles settle at the bottom. If it is too thick, thin it with a little water as needed.

• Stir the glaze well and thin with water if needed
• Apply with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics (bisque firing at least 950 °C)
• Leave to dry thoroughly
• Apply a further coat if needed

Firing and result

Fire the glaze in the range of 1020 to 1060 °C with a supply of oxygen, that is, in an oxidising kiln atmosphere. Firing up to 1100 °C is possible. How strongly the speckles show depends on the thickness of the coat, the clay and the firing schedule. A test piece on your own clay will show you beforehand how Waldwiese looks for you. Leave the foot unglazed so that the piece does not stick to the kiln shelf during firing.
