Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-3 Wine About It – red glaze for fine details and multicolour designs
With Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-3 Wine About It, you glaze ceramics in a glossy red. The glaze suits greenware, bisque and stoneware. It stays where you apply it. That helps with clean lines, fine details and multicolour designs where nothing should run into anything else.
You control the opacity through the number of coats: one coat looks slightly transparent, while two to three coats give opaque coverage. A glossy surface develops in the firing by itself, so you do not need an additional clear glaze. The Stroke & Coat range comes in 82 colours, which can be mixed with one another.
How to apply the glaze
Stir the glaze well before applying. Apply it evenly with a brush and let each coat dry before the next one. For transparent effects and soft gradients, you can thin it. As the glaze does not run, you can place outlines and areas right next to each other. The glaze finish after firing depends on the number of coats: for a rich, even colour, apply two to three coats.
- Normal firing range: cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart)
- Also suitable for high firing on stoneware
- Can be used in oxidation and reduction firing
- Can be mixed with other Stroke & Coat colours
Dinnerware and safety
According to Mayco, the glaze is dinnerware safe. The ACMI AP (Approved Product) seal indicates that, according to ACMI, the glaze is non-hazardous (no labelling required). If you glaze dinnerware, make sure the piece is fully fired and the glaze forms an even, continuous surface.
