Staedtler Mars 563 – aluminium ruler with inking edge and non-slip strip
The Staedtler Mars 563 is an aluminium ruler for measuring, drawing and ruling straight lines, including with ink. The scale is divided into millimetres. According to Staedtler, the Mars 563 aluminium rulers are non-slip and break-resistant.
A non-slip strip runs along the underside. It keeps the ruler in place on the paper while you draw a line. The inking edge helps when you work with ink or a fineliner: the ink does not run under the ruler, and there is less smudging.
Choosing the length
The ruler is available in various lengths, which you choose from the options. Shorter rulers fit easily in a pencil case and suit small sketches and exercise books. You need longer ones for larger drawing formats, so that you can draw a line in one go. When using ink, guide the pen close along the inking edge.
