Schmincke Aqua Granulating Spray – granulating effects for watercolour paints
The Schmincke Aqua Granulating Spray is a pump spray (15 ml) for watercolour painting. You spray it onto wet watercolour paint to create effects similar to granulation: the pigments clump together in spots in the treated area.
Only a few shades of HORADAM® AQUARELL granulate on their own (marked with "G" in the Schmincke brochure). With the spray, all the other colours also gain a granulating effect. On granulating colours, it intensifies the existing effect. The fine mist nozzle lets you work on even the smallest areas of a painting with precision, such as rocks, sand or a patch of sky.
Using the spray
The spray is ready to use. It only works on paint that is still wet, so work quickly after applying the colour.
- Shake well before use
- Cover any areas of the painting that should not be altered
- Apply the watercolour paint and, while it is still wet, spray precisely onto the desired spot
- Leave to dry lying flat and assess the result
Effect and paper
How strong the effect is depends greatly on the paper. On very absorbent surfaces the effect is weaker or does not appear at all. Do a test on an offcut of your paper before working on a finished painting. Store the spray in a cool, dry place and protect it from frost.
