Bobbiny JUMBO – thick braided cord for knitting and shaping

Bobbiny JUMBO is a thick, braided cord made from recycled cotton with a polyester core. You can knit it into chunky, sturdy items such as rugs or covers.

The polyester core gives the cord body. You can insert wire afterwards and bend the cord into shape, for example for letters or words such as LOVE or DIY. The cord is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and according to the manufacturer the yarn is made from certified recycled cotton. Choose your colour from the options.

Working with the cord

Bobbiny recommends 16–18 mm needles for this cord. They produce a dense, firm fabric, as you need for rugs and covers. When knitting with needles this thick, it helps to let the cord run off the reel loosely so that it does not twist.

Lettering and shapes

Because the cord has a polyester core, you can shape it. Push wire into the inside and then bend the cord into the shape you want. This makes letters or words for wall decoration.

Planning quantities

The reel weighs approx. 1200 g for 100 m, which works out at about 12 g per metre. Using the weight and the length, you can estimate the amount needed for your project from your pattern.
