Revell VW Beetle Saloon 1968 – 1:24 scale model kit with flat-four engine

Revell VW Beetle Saloon 1968 – 1:24 scale model kit with flat-four engine

The Revell VW Beetle Saloon 1968 (art. no. 07083) is a 1:24 scale model kit for you to build and paint yourself. The finished model is approx. 17.1 cm long. It shows the Beetle with the 1500 cc engine and 44 PS, front disc brakes and semi-trailing arm rear suspension, with upright headlights and a side fuel flap.

The kit consists of approx. 125 plastic parts. These include a multi-part flat-four engine, an opening bonnet, a detailed interior with instrument panel, single seats and rear bench seat, and movable wheels with rubber-like tyres. Bumpers, wheel rims, door handles and wing mirrors are supplied as chrome parts. A small vase for the dashboard is included. If you like, you can fit a tow bar.

Building the model

The parts are unpainted, so you will need glue and paint to finish the model. Only cut the parts from the sprue when you are ready to glue them, and remove flash with a craft knife or file. Dry-fit larger assemblies such as the body and interior before gluing, so you spot any fitting problems in good time. It is best to paint small parts such as the engine and seats while they are still on the sprue. Use glue sparingly on the chrome parts, as glue residue attacks the shiny surface.

Left- or right-hand drive, number plates and accessories

You can build the Beetle as either a left-hand or right-hand drive model. Decide before you assemble the interior. The decals include number plates for twelve countries (D, F, GB, NL, A, I, CH, S, B, E, IRL, DK), so the model suits both right-hand and left-hand traffic. The tow bar is optional and can be fitted if required.
