Prym knitting calculator with counting frame – convert stitches and rows with confidence
With the Prym knitting calculator with counting frame (art. no. 611735), you work out the stitches and rows of your tension swatch and convert them to any length you need. It is particularly useful for jumpers and other garments where the fit matters.
The counting frame shows you the number of stitches and rows per 10 cm. You set this value on the slider, on a scale from 8 to 49 stitches per 10 cm. In the viewing window you then read off the stitch and row counts for lengths from 1 cm to 100 cm. The device also has 20 gauge holes for determining needle sizes from 1.5 to 10 mm, for example for needles with no size marking.
Calculating with the knitting calculator
First knit a tension swatch using the yarn and needle size you plan to use for your project. Measure it only after you have cared for it in the same way as you will later care for the finished piece.
- Place the counting frame on the swatch and count the stitches and rows over 10 cm.
- Set the arrow on the slider to the number of stitches you counted.
- Read off in the viewing window how many stitches you need for the width you want.
- Do the same for the rows and read off the number of rows for the length you want.
Determining needle size
If you have a needle with no marking, push it into the gauge holes one after another. The hole it fits without play shows you the size, between 1.5 and 10 mm.
