Lotus Yarns ECO Cashmere is a knitting yarn made from 100 % recycled cashmere in plain colours. The yarn is made by reusing collected cashmere clothing, and the result is a fine, light yarn for jumpers, shawls, hats and other items you want to wear next to the skin. Choose your colour from the options.

The yarn is spun in an Italian mill near Florence. First, pure cashmere clothing is collected and sorted by colour, cleaned and checked for damaged areas. Buttons, seams and zips are removed by hand. The fabric is then cut into fine flakes, carded and spun into new yarn. The recycling process does not change the properties of the cashmere.

What ECO Cashmere is used for

The yarn is light and, thanks to the fine fibres, goes a long way, so it uses less material than other wools. It regulates temperature, absorbs moisture and repels odours and dirt. At approx. 162 m per 50 g, it falls within the range of a sport-weight yarn. That suits light jumpers, shawls, headbands or hats. Because the yarn is plain, textured patterns such as cables, rib or lace patterns stand out clearly.

Planning and knitting

Work out the quantity from the length: one ball has approx. 162 m. Compare this figure with the yarn requirements of your pattern and buy all the balls for a project together in one colour. With needles from 3.25 to 3.75 mm, you get 21 stitches and 30 rows over 10 × 10 cm, according to the manufacturer. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
