Laneras Abuelito Worsted – undyed natural Corriedale wool yarn

Laneras Abuelito (Worsted) is a single-ply, undyed knitting and crochet yarn made from 100 % Uruguayan Corriedale wool. The colour comes straight from the sheep: there are two natural shades, with no dyeing at all. The yarn is rustic but, according to Laneras, also soft on the skin, and the lanolin in the wool is still noticeable. One ball weighs approx. 100 g and has a length of approx. 195 m. That makes it easy to estimate the amount you need for your project.

What Abuelito is suited to

Worsted weight with a 4.5 mm needle size is a good basis for projects that knit up quickly: jumpers, cardigans, hats, scarves, gloves and blankets. The natural shades look calm and work well with textured patterns such as cables or rib. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to hold a swatch against your neck first before knitting a whole jumper.

Working and care

What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure given by the manufacturer is only a guide. According to Laneras, yarns without a superwash finish do not belong in the washing machine or tumble dryer, as they will felt there. Wash finished pieces by hand and dry them flat. If you plan to use several balls, choose the natural shades carefully before you start: undyed wool can vary slightly from ball to ball.
