Canson XL Croquis spiral sketchbook – lightweight sketching paper for quick ideas
The Canson XL Croquis spiral sketchbook is a sketch pad for studies, drafts and quick drawings. The paper weighs 90 g/m², is ivory, acid-free and free from optical brighteners. It is suitable for pencil, sanguine, charcoal and gouache.
The spiral binding is at the top. This makes it easy to turn the pages, and you can rotate the pad as you draw or rest it on your lap. The paper has a fine, slightly grained surface to which dry media adhere well.
Working with the sketchbook
At 90 g/m², the paper is lightweight and intended for dry techniques. Pencil, sanguine and charcoal can be layered and blended well. Apply gouache thinly and with little water, as lightweight paper can cockle when it gets very wet. For watercolour with plenty of water or for mixed media, a heavier paper is the better choice.

Choose the size from the options. The sketchbook is available in four sizes from A5 to A2. Smaller sizes are handy for quick sketches on the move, while larger ones give you more room for studies and expansive strokes.
