Pelikan Tusche A is a drawing ink in a 10 ml glass bottle for drawing and painting. You apply it with a ruling pen, dip pen or brush, for fine lines as well as for filled areas. Choose your colour from the options.

The shades fall into two groups: black (17) and white (18) are opaque and lightfast, while all the other shades are transparent. According to Pelikan, the inks can be mixed.

Working with the ink

For fine lines, use a dip pen or ruling pen; for broader strokes and areas, use a brush. Pour only as much ink into a small dish as you need. This keeps the ink in the bottle clean. With the transparent shades, you build up the colour in thin layers, and the light paper beneath shows through. If you want a glaze to look stronger, let the first layer dry and then apply the next.

Opaque or transparent – which ink to choose?

Black and white give you opaque outlines, accents and highlights, even on darker backgrounds. White is particularly suitable for this because, according to Pelikan, it covers well. The transparent shades suit colour gradients and transitions, because you can mix them with one another.
