The Canson XL Croquis sketch pad in DIN A5 format is a spiral-bound pad with 60 sheets for sketches, studies and drawings. The paper weighs 90 g/m², is ivory-coloured, acid-free and free of optical brighteners. It suits pencil, sanguine, charcoal and gouache.

The lightweight paper has a high bulk. The spiral binding is on the long side. The sheets can be turned over or folded back comfortably. At 14.8 × 21 cm, the pad fits into many bags and is handy as a sketchbook for when you are out and about.

What the pad is suited to

For quick sketches and studies the lightweight paper is perfectly adequate, so you needn't hold back on every sheet. Dry media such as pencil, sanguine and charcoal lie evenly on the paper. With gouache, apply the paint fairly thinly, as such lightweight paper can cockle with a lot of moisture. For wetter techniques and finished pictures, a heavier paper is the better choice.

A5 or A4?

The series also includes the pad in DIN A4 with 120 sheets (21 × 29.7 cm). A5 with 60 sheets is the compact version for your bag and for travelling. A4 gives you more space for larger studies.
