Octopus Fluids NEON highlighter ink – fluorescent highlighting with your fountain pen

Octopus Fluids NEON highlighter ink is a fluorescent, pigmented ink for fountain pens and dip pens. You can use it to highlight, underline and annotate text without a highlighter pen. The ink comes in six neon colours (yellow, green, pink, orange, red, violet), and the bottle contains 30 ml.

According to Octopus, the ink is document-proof: lightfast, waterproof and erasure-proof. It is made in Germany and contains only vegan ingredients. As it is waterproof and lightfast, it is also suitable for painting, drawing and calligraphy, according to the manufacturer.

What you can use the ink for and with

The ink suits piston-fill fountain pens and fountain pens with a converter, as well as glass pens and calligraphy nibs. You can also apply it with a brush, fill it into pump markers or use it to refill dried-out highlighters. Depending on the nib width, a fountain pen highlights more precisely than a highlighter pen. This helps with small print such as legal texts or the Bible, where a broad marker covers several lines at once.

Filling, highlighting and care

The fountain pen should be very clean before filling. Residues of dark ink mix with the neon colour and reduce its brightness, so rinse them out completely. When highlighting, going over the text once is enough, and nothing smudges. Fully dried royal blue ink and printed text are only slightly loosened if you go over them firmly.

As this is a pigmented ink, the fountain pen must not dry out completely. Clean it straight after use so that no pigments settle in the nib and feed.
