Mayco Rapid Roll SG-101 White – liner glaze for quickly coating the inside of vessels

Mayco Rapid Roll SG-101 White is a white glaze that fires to a gloss finish. You use it to coat the inside of vessels such as mugs or bowls quickly, without having to thin a brush-on glaze. Pour in the liquid glaze, swirl and tilt the vessel to spread it, then pour out the excess. This saves time when you want to glaze several vessels, for example in a class or in the workshop.

The glaze is suitable for greenware, earthenware and stoneware bisque (bisque-fired stoneware). The firing range runs from cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart) to cone 10 (approx. 1,285 °C, guide value per Orton chart). You can therefore use it for both low-fire and high-fire work.

Glazing the inside

Shake the bottle well before use. Then proceed as follows:

• Pour only the amount you need into the mug or bowl.
• Turn the vessel straight away, tilting it as you do, until the inside is completely coated.
• Pour out the excess and leave the piece upside down for 30 seconds to 1 minute so that the glaze does not collect at the bottom.
• Remove drips on the outside with a damp sponge.
• Do not reuse glaze that has been poured out, as it may be contaminated and its viscosity may change.

White, greys and marble effects

SG-101 fires to a glossy white. Rapid Roll in white and black can be mixed to make shades of grey or combined for marble effects. Mayco advises against tinting it with other products, as viscosity and fit may no longer be right.

Tableware and safety

According to Mayco, Rapid Roll is dinnerware safe when used as directed by the manufacturer. According to ACMI, the ACMI AP seal means that the product is classified as non-hazardous. Please still follow the warnings on zinc and soluble copper.
