The 44-piece circular knitting needle set from LYKKE contains 5-inch (12.7 cm) wooden tips in 12 sizes from US 4 / 3.5 mm to US 17 / 12 mm. You combine tips and cables as your project requires, and can knit socks, hats, scarves or jumpers with them.

The set includes 5 cables in three lengths (2 × 60 cm, 2 × 80 cm, 1 × 100 cm), 2 connectors, 4 cable keys, 8 cable end stoppers and 1 needle case. The three cable lengths cover small circumferences such as sleeves as well as large projects such as blankets or jumpers, without having to buy individual needles.

Working with the interchangeable tips

Screw the tip you want onto the cable using the cable key. Tighten it firmly and check that the join between tip and cable is smooth, so the stitches do not catch. Each cable length suits a different kind of work: for the circumference of a hat, use a short cable; for jumpers or blankets, a longer one. Two cables can be joined with a connector to make an even longer length.

What the stoppers and connectors are for

If you put a piece of work aside, screw the stoppers onto the ends of the cable in place of the tips and use the tips for another project. The stitches stay on the cable and do not slip off. This lets you keep several projects going at once without needing a separate pair of needles for each.

Which size should you choose?

The needle size depends on the yarn and your pattern. Sizes 3.5 to 4.5 mm suit finer yarn, 5 to 6.5 mm suit medium-weight yarn. From 8 mm you knit with chunky yarns. What matters is the tension given in your pattern.
