YKK VISLON zip 40 cm – open-ended, light, with plastic teeth

The 40 cm YKK VISLON zip is an open-ended, 1-way zip with plastic teeth for jackets, sportswear such as ski suits, and motorcycle clothing. The teeth are injection-moulded directly onto the tape, which makes it lighter than a metal zip of the same length. Tape and teeth are colour-matched, so the zip looks discreet. Choose your colour from the options.

What "open-ended" means for you

With an open-ended zip with 1 slider, the two halves can be separated completely at the bottom end, as on a jacket that opens all the way down the front. The teeth are 5 mm wide and the tape is 14 mm. Before buying, measure the opening length of your pattern to make sure the 40 cm will fit.

Sewing in the zip

Pin or clip both halves of the tape to the edge before sewing. Sew with a zip foot as close to the teeth as possible without the needle hitting them, otherwise the needle may break. Do not iron directly on the plastic teeth, as plastic can distort when heated.
