Paper Piecing Hexagons 2 Inch – 100 Paper Templates for English Paper Piecing

These 100 hexagon-shaped paper templates with 2 inch sides (approx. 5.08 cm) are the basis for English paper piecing (EPP). In this hand-sewing technique, you tack fabric around paper templates and then sew the hexagons together into patchwork designs.

With 2 inch sides, the hexagons offer enough surface area for clear fabric patterns and are still easy to hold in your hand. You can sew flower motifs, Grandmother's Flower Garden, table runners, bags or entire quilts with them. The smooth edges help you fold the fabric over accurately, and the firm paper can be used several times.

Working with the hexagons

Place a template on the wrong side of the fabric and cut around it, leaving a seam allowance of about 6 mm. Fold the allowance over the paper edge by edge and tack it in place with a few stitches. Then place two hexagons right sides together and sew them along one edge with fine whip stitches. Once a hexagon is joined to its neighbours all the way round, remove the tacking thread and pull out the paper, which you can then use again.
