Prym Standard Elastic – white, flat, 5 mm wide

Prym Standard Elastic in white is a flat, strong elastic for threading through the hems of trousers, pyjamas or jackets. It is 5 mm wide and 5 m long. In the zigzag pattern the elastic threads lie evenly side by side, so the tension is spread evenly across the width.

The elastic is washable up to 95 °C and tumble-dryer safe, so garments with an elasticated waist can be cared for as normal. It is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which matters for clothing worn next to the skin.

Threading the elastic

Sew a casing for the elastic that is slightly wider than the band, so that it does not twist. Leave a small opening when sewing. Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic and push it through the casing. Hold the other end firmly, otherwise it will slip in as well. Try the fit on the body before you cut the elastic. Then overlap the ends, sew them together and close the opening.
