Prym sew-on hook and loop tape in black – 20 mm wide, washable

Prym sew-on hook and loop tape in black consists of a hook strip and a loop strip. It fastens textiles that you want to open and close again and again, such as bag flaps, cushion covers or jackets. It is 20 mm wide and the pack contains 60 cm. The material is 100 % polyamide. According to Prym, the grip withstands 1,000 openings and closings without wearing out. The tape can be washed and cleaned without losing its grip.

Black is barely noticeable on dark fabrics. On light fabrics the tape shows up more clearly, and white is less conspicuous there.

How to sew on the tape

The hook strip and the loop strip are two separate pieces. Sew each one to the places that will meet later. Pin the strips in place beforehand or tack them so that nothing slips. Then topstitch all the way round, close to the edge. If you are using a machine, choose a needle that suits the fabric; the tape is thicker than the fabric, so sew slowly. Preferably sew the hook strip where it will not touch skin or delicate fabrics directly, as the hooks are rough.

Sew-on or self-adhesive?

This tape is intended for fabrics and textiles where it is sewn in place. On hard, smooth surfaces, the self-adhesive Prym hook and loop tape is the better choice. The sew-on version is available in white, black, beige, red and grey, and in 60 cm and 120 cm lengths. Close the tape before washing so that the hooks do not catch on other textiles.
