At 40 cm long, they are intended for pieces worked flat, such as scarves or jumpers. The set covers the most common needle sizes, so you do not have to buy individual needles for every project.

The surface of the needles is very smooth and shiny, so the stitches glide quickly and without resistance. The low weight is kind to your hands during long knitting sessions. Each needle size is lacquered in its own colour, and the size is also laser-printed on every needle, so you can quickly find the right size again. The tips are neatly tapered. Which needle size should I use?

The right needle size is given in your pattern and usually on the ball band of the yarn. As a rule of thumb, fine yarns such as sock yarn are knitted with the smaller sizes from 2.5 mm, while thicker yarns for jumpers or scarves are knitted with 4.5 to 6.0 mm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. If you knit very tightly or loosely, simply go up or down a size, as all eight sizes are included in the set.

Straight needles and the 40 cm length

On straight needles you knit row by row, back and forth, for example scarves, wrist warmers, baby cardigans or pieces of a jumper. How many stitches fit on a 40 cm needle depends on the thickness of the yarn. For very wide pieces such as blankets or large shawls, a circular needle is better suited. The smooth surface lets the stitches glide quickly. With very slippery yarns, take care not to let the stitches slide back off the needle unintentionally. The case with a zip keeps the needles neatly together.
