Oval wooden mixing palette, 27 × 41 cm, 5 mm thick

Oval wooden mixing palette 27 × 41 cm – for acrylic, gouache and oil

You can use this oval wooden palette in clear-varnished 3-ply plywood for mixing acrylic, gouache and oil paints. At 27 × 41 cm, it leaves enough room to lay out several colours side by side and still mix next to them.

The palette is 5 mm thick, so it is flat enough to rest comfortably beside your canvas or paper. The smooth, varnished surface absorbs less paint into the wood than untreated plywood. This lets you see the shade clearly as you mix and makes it easier to remove leftovers.

Working with the palette

Place the colours around the outer edge and leave the centre free for mixing. This keeps the pure shades neatly separate. Wipe off acrylic paint after painting while it is still wet, as dried acrylic paint sticks more firmly to the varnish. Remove oil paint with a rag. If you clean off oil paint with solvent, first test a small area to see how the varnish reacts.
