Gloss transparent shrink plastic – colour, cut out and shrink in the oven

With gloss transparent shrink plastic you can make keyrings, tops for fridge magnets and jewellery pieces. You colour the sheet with permanent colouring pens or markers, cut out the pieces and heat them in a standard oven at 170 °C. The plastic shrinks to approx. 40 % of its original size and becomes thicker: a flat design turns into a compact, firm piece.

The pack contains 10 sheets measuring 20 × 30 cm. That is enough for several small designs per sheet.

How to use

The sheet has a glossy side and a matt side. You draw on the matt side.

• Draw the design on the matt side with permanent colouring pens or markers
• Cut out the pieces with scissors
• For pendants, punch or drill the hole before heating, as it shrinks too
• Heat on baking paper in the oven at 170 °C until the plastic has shrunk
• Then leave to cool

Planning the design size

As the plastic shrinks to approx. 40 %, draw designs about 2.5 times as large as the finished piece. A pendant 3 cm wide should therefore be drawn at around 7.5 cm. The colours sit closer together after shrinking. When heating in the oven, supervise children and only touch hot pieces once they have cooled.
