da Vinci Series 7779 – round bristle brush for oil and acrylic paints
The da Vinci series 7779 bristle artist brush is a round brush for oil and acrylic paints. It has a rounded tip and unglued Chinese bristles. The bristles are set in an aluminium ferrule and sit on a long, raw wooden handle. This makes the brush a robust tool for bold textures, painterly effects and covering larger areas.
The series is available in several sizes. Choose the size from the options.
Working with the bristle brush
The stiff bristles hold thick, heavy-bodied paint well and give it texture. This suits opaque application, visible brushstrokes and underpainting on canvas. For textures, use lightly thinned paint and apply the brush with the tip or from the side. The rounded tip gives softer edges than a pointed shape. For fine lines and details, a round brush with finer hairs is the better choice. The long handle lets you work comfortably at a little distance from the canvas.
Care
Wash out acrylic paint before it dries, using water and mild soap. With oil paint, first wipe off the paint, then rinse with brush cleaner or thinner and wash again with soap afterwards. Lay the brush flat to dry or hang it with the bristles pointing down, so that no water runs into the ferrule and the bristles keep their shape.
