YKK VISLON zip 70 cm – lightweight, open-ended, with plastic teeth
The YKK VISLON zip in 70 cm is an open-ended plastic zip for jackets, sportswear such as ski suits, and motorcycle clothing. The teeth are injection-moulded onto the tape. This makes it much lighter than a metal zip of the same length, while it stays sturdy and runs smoothly.
Open-ended with 1 slider means you can separate the two halves completely at the bottom, just as on a jacket. Tape and teeth are colour-matched; choose your colour from the options.
Inserting the zip
Measure the opening edge of the finished jacket from the collar edge to the hem and compare it with the 70 cm of the zip. Pin the two halves separately to the edges and make sure they start at the same height, so the pieces do not shift when you close the zip. It is best to sew close to the teeth with a zip foot. Near the teeth, iron only on a low setting with a pressing cloth, as plastic can distort when heated.
Which length to choose?
70 cm suits a full-length opening on longer jackets. For shorter styles or other uses, the VISLON series is available in further lengths from 25 to 110 cm. Check which zip length your pattern specifies before buying.
