Lang Yarns MOHAIR 21 – fine mohair silk yarn for delicate knits

Lang Yarns MOHAIR 21 is a fine yarn of 58% mohair and 42% silk for delicate shawls, jumpers and accessories. The mohair has a fibre diameter of just 21 microns. The silk content adds sheen and lightness to the knitted fabric. One ball weighs 25 g and has a length of approx. 375 m.

The mohair is certified to the Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS). Through the Lang Yarns “Trace your Yarn” programme, the origin can be traced via QR code. Choose your colour from the options.

Working with MOHAIR 21

You can knit MOHAIR 21 on its own or hold several strands together. Strands of the same colour give a denser, fluffier fabric, while strands in different colours blend into shades of their own. With several strands the fabric becomes thicker, so adjust your needle size and tension. Knit a swatch beforehand with exactly the combination you want to use. Mohair catches easily when you rip back, so the swatch also saves you from unpicking later.

How much yarn do you need?

At approx. 375 m per 25 g, that works out at 1,500 m per 100 g. This helps when comparing with patterns that give quantities in grams or metres. As a rough guide, allow approx. 100 g for a women's jumper in size M and approx. 75 g for a child's jumper (10 years). The actual amount needed depends on the design, stitch pattern and number of strands. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure of 29 stitches and 43 rows over 10 × 10 cm is only a guide.
