Lang Yarns Phoenix – soft merino yarn for warm knitted pieces

Lang Yarns Phoenix is a knitting yarn made from 93 % virgin wool (extra fine merino, mulesing-free) and 7 % polyamide, for jumpers, cardigans and other warm winter pieces. The high merino content makes the yarn soft, while the polyamide gives the knitted fabric a little more stability. Choose your colour from the options.

Each ball weighs 100 g and has a length of approx. 270 m. On 7–8 mm needles with a tension of 9 stitches × 16 rows over 10 × 10 cm, the knitting grows quickly. That is handy if you want to knit larger pieces such as a jumper.

How much yarn do you need?

The yarn requirements are a guide only and depend on the design, the size and your tension. With 100 g per ball, this works out at roughly:

• Men's jumper size M: approx. 400 g, so about 4 balls
• Women's jumper size M: approx. 300 g, so about 3 balls
• Child's jumper, age 10: approx. 200 g, so about 2 balls

Knitting tips

What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. Because this yarn is knitted fairly thickly at 7–8 mm, you need far fewer stitches for a piece than with finer yarns, but keep an even yarn tension so that the stitches stay regular. If you need several balls, buy them in one order if possible so that the colour matches.
