Burda tissue paper is a semi-transparent paper for tracing sewing patterns. The pack contains 5 sheets, each measuring 150 × 110 cm. On a surface this size, even large pattern pieces can often be traced in one go.

The paper has no grid. If you need a centimetre grid to help with alignment, choose the gridded version.

How to trace a sewing pattern

Lay the paper over the pattern sheet and make sure it cannot slip. Trace the lines of your pattern piece with a pencil or ballpoint pen, then cut it out. Copy across markings such as the size, grain line and notches too, so that you can identify the piece clearly later. Because you are working on a copy, the original pattern sheet stays unchanged and you can use it again for other sizes.

Other uses for the paper

As well as tracing, the tissue paper is suitable for pattern alterations, for example if you want to lengthen or widen a piece. You can also use it to trace motifs, for instance as a template for embroidery. It can also be used for wrapping or crafting.
