Canson XL Dessin drawing pad, 160 gsm, spiral-bound

Canson XL Dessin – drawing pad with a lightly grained surface

The Canson XL Dessin is a spiral-bound drawing pad for pencil, charcoal, pastel and pen drawings. The natural white paper is 160 gsm with a lightly grained surface: not too smooth and not too rough. It takes line and pigment well and stays suitable for fine detail.

The sheets are micro-perforated, so you can separate finished drawings cleanly from the pad. Choose the size from the options.

What the pad suits

The light grain gives pencil and charcoal some grip and can still be worked up finely. Pastel also adheres well. You can correct mistakes by simply erasing cleanly, without damaging the paper. At 160 gsm the sheet is sturdier than basic sketch paper and suits studies, sketches and finished drawings.

Tips for working with the pad

It is best to draw while the sheet is still in the pad, as this gives you a firm surface. Afterwards, separate the sheet along the perforation rather than tearing it off. You can secure charcoal and pastel drawings with fixative so they do not smudge in storage.
