Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite MATT Pencil Set – 6 soft graphite pencils with a matt line

The Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite MATT set contains six graphite pencils in grades 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, 10B and 12B for drawing, sketching and writing. The lead is formulated to give an especially matt line. On paper you see only very faint reflection, whereas classic pencils often have a silvery sheen. This is most noticeable when you compare them side by side.

According to Faber-Castell, the pencils have high tonal density and a soft graphite laydown. This gives dark areas with plenty of depth, especially in monochrome graphite work. The leads are extra break-resistant.

Which grade for what?

The higher the B number, the softer and darker the line. Use 2B and 4B for outlines and base tones, 6B and 8B build strong mid-tones, and 10B and 12B give the deepest blacks. The set therefore covers everything from light layers to very dark areas. If you need other grades, the series is also available in HB and 14B, as well as individual pencils.

Working with soft graphite

Soft leads smudge easily. Place a sheet of paper under your drawing hand so you do not smear finished areas. Work from light to dark: first establish the form with 2B or 4B, then build up layer by layer with the softer grades.
