Schmincke aqua Linoprint – water-based printing ink for lino and relief printing
Schmincke aqua Linoprint is a ready-to-use, water-based lino printing ink for lino and relief printing on paper and card. The binder is gum arabic, and the pigments are organic or inorganic. Each tube contains 35 ml, and the colours in the series can be mixed with one another. If the ink is too stiff for your design, you can thin it with water.
The series comprises 18 colours in 35 ml tubes, including gold, silver and copper as effect colours. Choose your colour from the options. Because all the colours share the same binder, you can combine them for multicolour prints and mix your own shades.
Printing with the ink
Put a little ink on a smooth plate and roll it out evenly with the roller until the roller carries a thin, velvety film. Transfer the ink to the lino plate in a thin layer and print onto paper or card. Too thick a layer fills fine lines and edges, so it is better to roll on two thin coats. Once the ink has dried on the plate, the print will no longer come out cleanly. A drop of water will then make the ink supple again, but use it very sparingly, as the ink will otherwise run.
Multicolour printing and overprinting
The ink is smudge-proof after approx. 15 minutes and can be overprinted. For multicolour designs, you can therefore let one layer of ink dry and print the next over it. After printing, wash the roller, plate and tools with water while the ink is still wet. Please note: smudge-proof does not mean waterproof. Prints that may get wet should be protected accordingly.
