Botz 9593 Winterzauber liquid glaze – light blue with coloured speckles

Botz 9593 Winterzauber liquid glaze is a glossy, opaque earthenware glaze in light blue with yellow, blue and green speckles. You brush it onto bisque-fired ceramics and fire it within the range of 1020–1060 °C. It can be fired up to 1100 °C.

The glaze also gives good results on coloured clays. It belongs to the Botz liquid glazes for earthenware (1020–1100 °C). The speckles give a lively surface without you having to combine several glazes.

Application

The glaze settles in the container, so stir it well before use to bring the settled particles back into suspension. If needed, thin it with a little water. The piece must be bisque-fired, at 950 °C at least.

• Stir the glaze thoroughly and thin with water if needed
• Apply with a brush to the bisque-fired ceramics
• Leave to dry well and apply another coat if needed
• Fire within the range of 1020–1060 °C, up to 1100 °C at most

Tips for an even result

The glaze is opaque and the speckles develop during firing. Apply each coat evenly and let it dry completely before applying the next, otherwise streaks or areas that are too thick may appear. Leave the foot of the piece free of glaze so that it does not stick to the kiln shelf. To see how the speckles look on your clay, glaze a test piece made from the same material before you glaze the actual piece.
